Puerto Rico Pharma Cluster
The key focus of the Pharmaceutical Cluster is the promotion of innovation and reasearch. The agreement focuses on five points: increasing the number of scientists and engineers for recruitment by the life science industry; increase the level of competency of such professionals; strengthen academic offerings to address existing gaps; promote more R&D and opportunities for research experiences in both academic and industry settings; and leverage and complement areas of expertise and infrastructure among universities to maximize their output. Constant interaction between the universities and industry is supporting worn in each of the five areas. Projects such as the enhancement of the Material Characterization Center and the creation of a phsrms process pilot plant are some of the iniciatives under works.
